Films So Far In 2013

Hi girls! Today I wanted to do a little round up of films that I have seen so far this year.

Now for the last couple of years Robert and I used to go to the cinema all the time, like every two weeks. Sometimes we would just go to the cinema and pick a film we liked the look of and other times we would want to go to see a specific film. I think the fact that we would go so often, showed that there was a good choice of films out. This year, Robert and I have been to the cinema 3 times, three(!!) and we are now in the 6th month of the year! I feel as though the first part of 2013 has been such a let down for good films!

The three films we have seen so far have been a bit of a mixture, but I am really excited for some films that are coming out soon too!

So first up is the first film we went to see this year, back in April was Olympus Has Fallen. This film stars Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman, amongst others. Its a fast paced, high adrenaline action thriller about the President being kidnapped within the White House and only Gerard can save him.

Moving onto the second film, The Place Beyond The Pines. With Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper as the leading men in the film, you won't be disappointed! However this film felt a lot different from the usual. It made you think about life and what you value the most. In reality the film is about a stunt bike rider who then uses his talent to rob banks, but the film is so much more than that. It shows how things can affect families and how people deal with emotions. It was such a great film and I don't think it got the credit! I left the cinema in a daze, trying to take in all that I just saw on the screen. Definitely try and have a watch of this film!!

Last film we saw at the cinema was a big one... The Hangover 3. Two words: freaking hilarious!! It doesn't matter who you are or what you stand for, this film is just funny. I don't know how anyone could watch this film and not laugh all the way through it! It was a little different than the past two films, as the series of events in this film was not a night out and then a scary awakening in the morning (although the film did end this way, hilarious!!!). Basically this film revolves around Alan and trying to get him to rehab. They end up back in Vegas too. Overall its a great film and I want there to be a fourth!! I don't want this to be the end!!

I also want to give a special mention to a film Robert and I watched just recently, but was in the cinema in January. Django Unchained is a Quentin Tarantino film, so already you know its going to be a quirky film. It was not what I was expecting, but it was excellent! A film set in the 1850's American Midwest about an freed slave who teams up with a Bounty hunter and sets out to rescue his wife. Starring Jamie Foxx, Samuel L Jackson, Leonardo Di Caprio, Christopher Waltz and even Quentin himself! Great film, quite bloody, but with some big laughs thrown in for good measure too! Such great acting, definitely worth seeing!!!

There are a few films coming out soon that I am dying to see... The Bling Ring, Monsters University, World War Z and of course The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (whenever that comes out!). What films have you seen this year at the cinema? Any favourites? I would love to know if you have any recommendations!

I Can't Believe...

Hi girls!

I am linking up today with the lovely Robin from The Sunshine Diary! I have been meaning to link up with her for ages and I finally am! Here we go...!

I can't believe... that we are nearly in June!?! How has this happened! We have only got one month to go and 2013 will be half way through! That is just crazy. I don't know what it is; getting older, working all the time, time just seems to fly by so fast nowadays! It sill feels like it should be April! Well at least Scotland is getting some sunny weather!

I can't believe... How hilariously funny The Hangover 3 was. Robert and I went to see it on Friday and we totally could not control our laughter! Haha, you have all got to go and see it!! Oh and here is a little extra bit after some credits, which was probably the funniest part of the film. I really wish they didn't have to end it with the trilogy. They could easily make a fourth film, with what the ending was!

I can't believe... (sticking with the Hangover theme) that the first two films made $500,000,000 (that's 500 million) each! Those first two films made a billion dollars!! How crazy is that!

I can't believe... how hard it is to find Robert and I a house! There is just so  little at the moment for sale and we want to stay in a good area, so there is little for sale! We are just desperate to get our own place, but I guess patience is key when buying the right house!! Its just so annoying!!

I can't believe... how addicted I am to Youtube at the moment!! Its bad, bad I tell you!

I can't believe... how soon I'm going back down to London! This time next week I'm going to be so excited!! I'm going to a huge concert in Wembley Stadium! Its going to be awesome! I have the hotel all booked and we have worked out a schedule (sort of, hehe) and I am driving my Jenson there and back! There might also be a night out in London involved too! Fun fun!

What can you not believe at the moment? Go say hi to the lovely Robin too!!

My Top Five Films Of 2012

Hi girls!

So I thought 2012 was an amazing year for cinema. Film makers made it look like they were all trying their hardest to have made the best film of the year. I feel as if 2011 was a very poor year for new films and now we all know why, because 2012 was the year for films!! Here are my top films for 2012, in no specific order....

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2

I was so sad to see this film series end! I know a lot of people are skeptical about the series, some of the actors etc, but as soon as I saw the first film (which feels like such a long time ago!) I was drawn in completely! I then read all the books and was taken in even further! I love all of the main cast and thought the films were so well made. This final film was made with a huge twist at the end and I was no way expecting it!! All Twilight fans gave the biggest gasp of the year at the twist I think!! Stephenie Meyer definitely out did herself with that ending!! Going to miss Bella and Edward way too much!!

The Dark Knight Rises

I knew I was going to absolutely love this film before it even came out in the cinema! Absolutely loved The Dark Knight. I wasn't sure what this one had in store for us, but it was absolutely epic!! I loved the baddy, Bane and the little twist that showed the true baddy!! I loved the fact that Batman's right hand man in this film at the end we find out his first name is Robin (brilliant, I loved this moment!!). I also loved the ending, where we find Albert sitting at his cafe and seeing Bruce, like he dreamt he would! For me one of the best films I have seen in a long long time!

War Horse

So this was a film that came out all the way at the start of 2012! I read the book before I saw the film. Now the book was absolutely amazing and the film did not follow it exactly, but the film was still amazing! I cannot believe the horses in it and also the horsemanship that must of went on through it being made. I cried... a lot (I did take tissues, I was expecting the tears!), but mostly out of happy tears that Joey was a happy horse in the end. You all should know that I adore horses, so this film was always going to be in my top films of the year! I also really want to go see this in the West end! I have heard such brilliant reviews and I am desperate to see the puppets in action!

Skyfall

Wowee! What an end to Mr Daniel Craig being James Bond! Absoutely amazing Bond film and I think the best out of the bunch!! The story line of this one, the fact that part of it was filmed in Scotland, that Skyfall was the name of his house, the fact that we learned about Bond's past and of course the villain in this film was excellent!! Honestly, he made everyone laugh, the fact that he was a complete psychopath and the fact that the villain actually had a background story, which was good! He was excellently played, well done Javier Bardem and well done to the director Sam Mendes, who took a chance at changing James Bond films, that made some fans annoyed, but created an absolutely outstanding film, which was totally epic in all proportions!

 Life Of Pi

My last film to be mentioned is one that I was so excited for! I read this book over and over again, when I was young and just thought the whole thing to be so magical and amazing. It was a book that I most definitely cried over. The film was one that directors were scared to make, as the imagination needed to create it was huge. It was a film that the author was not sure if someone was able to create, but I am so glad that it finally was! Not having read the book in a couple of years, I had forgotten the start of it. Religion was a big part of the film and is something that I myself do not believe in, but yet the film was still one that I could watch again and again. The animation of the animals was absolutely amazing and so well made. I love that this film shows animals and obviously in particular tigers in a different light as to what most people would think of one (a ferocious hunter with no mercy). It does indeed show that animals have souls. In the picture below, the bottom left part of the film was one that created floods of tears rolling down my cheeks. I implore you to watch this film, if you have not already and also read the book! This is just an amazing amazing film and is so inspirational!

What do you think of my top 5 films? Do you have any favourites for 2012? Also have you seen these films? I would love to know what you think of them!!

Friday's Letters #18

Hi girls! Friday means letters!

Dear Shop, I really don't enjoy going to one work in the morning, going home, getting ready, having dinner and the having to go to another work to start working at 6pm. I do like the overtime, but see when I'm working a Friday night, then a Saturday until closing and then Sunday until closing, its not very fun! So please stop making me work Friday's! Thank you!! Dear Bed, I cannot wait for my long lie tomorrow!! So excited for it, I have been needing one for a while now so be prepared! I hope your going to be cosy for me! Yay! Dear Secret Santa Gift Swap, I can't wait to receive my gift! Although my most favourite part was picking out the gifts for me to send! I can't wait until they receive it!! I would love to see her face! It's so fun! I also hope she likes it! Hehe, so yea I can't wait until we all link up next Friday and get to say who we were a Santa to! Dear Christmas Shopping, erm... Still not done any of it!!! I have no time and I also still need to pay £600 for the big holiday on the 10th of December, good timing! Not! So I will need to wait until I have done that to see how much money I can then spend on presents, so it is going to be a special gifts only Christmas rather than giving each person a lot of different presents! I hope they won't mind! Dear Odeon, thank you very much for our free tickets to go and see Silver Linings Playbook. It was actually a very good film, quite quirky I feel, but a very good story! Everyone should get one of their Odeon points card, we have had probably 14 free tickets in the time that we have had it! Its brilliant and always feels great to know that we go it into the cinema for free, just by going to the cinema 5 times! Its great, go and get one now if you go to the cinema quite often!! Dear Robert, Love it when you bring me some breakfast at work! Your so kind and awesome! Love you petty!

I think thats my letters for this week! Link up with the lovely Ashley from Adventures of Newlyweds

Night Out For Jen, Twilight and Cats On The Ipad!

Hi girls!

So I am back with a big post today! It is just basically what I have been up to over last weekend, because I did quite a lot! So be prepared!! Hehe!

Friday

So first up, last Friday after work, I had a mad dash to the shops to get an outfit for my night out on the Saturday. I went to New Look, because its just so easy to find a nice dress and shoes, for a good price. I wasn't disappointed either! Just look at the heels I bought!!!

They were £29.99, which I think is a great price! They are absolutely covered in black sparkly sequins and all night they were glistening away! I'm so pleased I bought them. Also they were really comfy all night long, even as I was dancing away. Mind you I always love wearing really high heels so I am used to the height of them, but in these ones the platform is also quite big, so that makes them even comfier! As for the dress, you will see later on!

So after I had went into New Look, I met up with my friend to find her an outfit for Saturday too! It was her birthday hence why we were having a big night out! So we eventually found her an amazing dress from Warehouse and then went to Starbucks for a good chat!  Robert and I were then supposed to go to the cinema after that to see Silver Linings, but that never happened. So we ended up staying in and watching Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1, as he had not seen that one! It was great to watch it and remember where that film stopped, before we were to go and see the new one! Robert really enjoyed it too, although he will only say that to me. If any one else asked him he would have said oh its rubbish!! Hehe!

Saturday

Well Robert and I had a much needed long lie that morning and then it was off to work for me!  I got home just before 8pm and then had to quickly get ready! For me when I'm going out on a night out it's usually my make up that takes the longest, but I think I did ok and got out the house at quarter past 9. I had hardly any time for dinner either!! Ok so onto the night out!! Here is me in the car on the way to pick up two of my friends. Robert drove us in, which was very good of him!

I used two of the new products I bought recently in my Superdrug haul, the Gosh blusher and some of the colours from the Sleek Storm palette (review to come soon!). So we had a fab time in the West end of Glasgow, going to the Hillhead Book Club, which is a really cool bar and does great cocktails! We then headed out to Bar O, which is under a really famous pub called the Oran Mor, which is in a big church! We had a great time and the music was great! I always love a good dance, which was definitely had there. I think my highlight of the night was going up to the door of Club O and then trying to act sober so we all got in, I also had my hood up because it was raining too. One of the bouncers said to me "you come over here now", in this really big voice, so I did and obviously was acting very normal (haha). He then just blurted out "Omg!! I just love your jacket, it's just so fluffy and has ears and everything!!! Its amazing!"! I was quite shocked!! Haha, it was so funny!! My jacket is a faux fur (obviously!! Real fur belongs on animals!) and has a big hood, which has big ears on it!! It is totally amazing and by far one of the best things I have ever bought! I got it from Asos last year. If you want to see it in all its glory then click here to see it and the hood! Anyway, it was just a hilarious moment, that I wasn't expecting from this huge bouncer! Hehe! So here are some photos of the night and of my dress!

Haha, love that last photo! Who knows what I was thinking! Hehe! So Robert as Robert was also out in the West end that night, but was driving he came and picked me and the birthday girl up and took us to get some chips! Which were awesome!! Hehe, we then dropped her off home and when we eventually got back to mine, it was like half 3!

Sunday

I had such a good sleep and it felt like I was sleeping for absolutely ages, before I had to get up and get ready for work. I started at 11.30, which was an ok time. I love it when you get a really good, deep sleep like that though! It feels the best! Work went ok and Robert met me for my lunch, which was lovely. We went to the Debenhams cafe and we sneaked in Diet Coke, because it is so expensive in there and like £2 for one small glass of juice! Afterwards back to work I went and the rest of the day went by quite quickly.

Now here is where it gets exciting! We went to see Breaking Dawn Part 2!! Yay!! At long last I got to see it! Oh my goodness it did not disappoint!!!!!! I loved the twist so so much, although I was almost crying at some points of it! If you have seen it then you know what bit I mean, one initial - C! It just about gave me a flipping heart attack I tell you!! What a brilliant idea though, absolutely astounded I was!! Hehe! Now that is another franchise I will miss, now that its all finished!! Boohoo! When the film finished I just sat in the cinema for ages and ages, just completely in awe! Haha, Robert kept saying can we go now and all I could do was shake my head!! Once all the characters had went past, we left. When we noticed outside it was completely foggy and misted over. It was soo weird!! Not to mention cold!

Awww, I am so going to miss Edward Cullen!! So yea if you have not seen that film yet then you just have got to go and see it!! It is phenomenal!! Hurry up! Go now!!

Monday

I had a bit of a freak out that day! I had to find something to wear for my Graduation!! Again straight after work I headed to New Look and I picked up a really nice black top, for £14.99. Thankfully!! I thought I was going to be in Silverburn for ages traipsing around trying to find something! When I got home I was really tired and bored, so I went on my dads Ipad. I ended up downloading an app for the cats. It was absolutely hilarious!! It's called Games For Cats. You just set it up and they have to tap the mouse, butterfly or laser depending on what they like. Every time the cats tapped the object it would make a noise, so the mouse squeaked etc. They probably did love the mouse the best to be honest. It was just so funny watching them play it!!

They looked like they were having great fun!! If you have a cat and an Ipad, then I definitely recommend downloading this app! The cats were so entertained and not to mention they entertained me!! There are also some funny videos on Youtube of some crazy cats playing with it too!! Hehe

Also it was our weekly pub quiz on Monday nights too. It was a great quiz that night and we won!! By quite a lot too. So gooooo team!! We are so reayd for next weeks quiz, because we have got to win it again and this time get the bonus question correct, which will mean that we would win the jackpot!! As no winning team has correctly answered the bonus question for quite a few weeks now, it will be up to over £200 now! So we really want to win next week!! Wish us luck!! I was also getting really excited for my Graduation, which was the next day! More on that soon!

Well thats me now for that super long post! Hopefully you girlies enjoyed it!! Let me know!

Happy Halloween!!

Hi girls!!!

So I have a couple of things to share today! First up, its Halloween!! I have been quite excited about this Halloween, as I have been part of this amazing community, where we are all talking about past costumes, recipes and different ideas! It has been fab to read it all! Also a little note from my little black cat!

Hehe!! I love the Halloween bits on Picmonkey! So I will also show you my Pirate costume, I wore on Saturday night! Teehee! I really wish I had got a hat, but I never had time to get one! Also can I just add, the photos below are in order of when they were taken. So the first one is when we first arrived, with my sword in my belt and hair still looking all nice.... following through to my friend giving me a garter to keep my sword in, being all hot from the heat in the club and my hair looking not its best!! Haha, oh how I love Halloween!

Teehee thanks again Picmonkey!!

Ok so now onto something I did on Sunday with Robert.... We went to see Skyfall!!!!!! Oh my god it is the most amazing Bond film yet, let me tell you!! The storyline, the action, the characters are all amazing! The baddie in this film is also played extremely well, he is just a little insane (ok a lot!) and he can be quite funny at the start! I love how you actually learn something about who James Bond is and his background in this film and obviously I love that parts of it take place in my good old Scotland!! The only thing that kind of bugged me was the start of the movie that took place in Istanbul. Now Robert and I only went to see Taken 2 a couple of weeks back, which took place in the same place and parts of the chases took place on the same roofs!! Taken 2 was lucky that it came out first or else it would just be seen as a copy of Bond! Although this was only a very small part of Skyfall, so I will forgive you James Bond for going on that silly mission and almost killing yourself!! Ooops forget I said that! Teehee!

Honestly even if you don't like action films, you have just got to see this! This film has completely reinvented James Bond as a franchise and brought back the good things about Bond that have been missing in more recent Bond movies. The best movie of the year let me tell you and even of the Bond franchise! Robert even wants to go and see it again! Something that he never ever says, so that must really prove something! Hehe, so just go and see it ok?!?! You will thank me!

So I hope everyone who is going out tonight or having a party has a fab time! I would love to know what you are dressing up as! It's sad though because where I stay there are never any little kids going around the houses, which is just rubbish!! Oh and I also hope that weather is good for them, not like now, as it is absolutely pouring down with rain! Eeek! I think tonight I shall watch some Halloween movies! Anyone got any suggestions?1 I want to watch Hocus Pocus! Not sure if Robert will though! Hehe!!

Last Friday Night #3

Hi girls hope you all had a good weekend!

Well as my title states, I had a good Friday night that I will tell you about! Robert and I decided we would go out for dinner and then the cinema, which you probably read about in my Friday's letters post, which you can find here! So as we had a good night out, I thought I would do an OOTN and a FOTN too!

Scarf - River Island
Cardigan - New Look
Tshirt - River Island
Jeans - River Island

Wedges - River Island

Haha, action shot above! Ok so I seem to like River Island a lot in this outfit! Haha, sorry I never realised it until typing up this post! Anyway, so I decided to wear this outfit, because we weren't going anywhere fancy for dinner, so quite a casual outfit was required! So now onto my FOTN!

Primer - Benefit The POREfessional
Foundation - No 7 Intelligent Colour
Blusher - Very YSL Make Up Palette Blush (see here)

Under Eye Concealer - Garnier Anti Dark Circles
Eye Primer - Benefit Lemon Aid
Eyebrows - Benefit Instant Brows Pencil
Brow Bone Highlight - Stila eye shadow in Chinois
Eye Shadow (all over lid) - Benefit Creaseless Cream eye shadow in Airbrush
Eye Shadow (outer corner and crease) - Very YSL Make Up Palette in Cashmere Brown
Eye Shadow (middle of eye lid) - Very YSL Make Up Palette in Parma Pink (which is actually a very light shimmery lilac colour)
Eye Liner - Benefit Bad Gal Liner
Mascara - Maybelline One By One Volume Express

Lips - Revlon Lip Butter in Cotton Candy

So we went into Glasgow city centre for a Dimaggios and we got seated right away, which was lucky! We had nachos to start with and then I had a pizza and Robert had a chicken dish! Overall it was very yummy, but as we were going to the cinema we didn't have a dessert. So we walked down to the Cineworld to see what was on and there were no films that were starting when we got there that we wanted to see! So here comes the funny bit, which is totally the kind of thing Robert and I do all the time, we drove to Xscape, which is probably about a 15 minute drive on the motorway. So we went into the Odeon cinema there and it was really busy! The film Ted that I wanted to see was full and again no other decent films were starting soon. So again we jumped back into the car and drove to the Showcase cinema in Linwood, which again is probably another 15 minute drive in the motorway! When we got there, Ted was not on for another hour, so we decided that we would watch The Wedding Video, which is a British film that just came out on that Friday. It was quite funny, but I think I would have preferred to have seen Ted! Dam you busy cinema in Xscape!!

So does anyone else do this? I mean drive to 3 different cinema's to actually get to watch a film.  Oh and by the way I had looked up times on the internet, for the Odeon, before you ask why we never just did that. At the time we didn't know what restaurant we were going to and all our plans changed! So I think people will find it weird that we are happy to drive around the place to watch a film, so please prove me wrong and tell me that others are this mad too?! Hehe!!

Love, Jen x
