Vroom Vroom

Hi girls!!

A couple of weeks ago, I was taking my dad to the airport (he was going to Stornoway on business for the day). I do this quite often, so I know the road well and there is a few bumps in the road coming up to the drop off point. The road curves round and as I was going round the bend, police men were standing on the road. It all happened so fast (hehe) that I never even realised that they were pointing the speed gun at my car...

I never really noticed what speed I was going, but I knew I wasn't going that fast because of the speed bumps. So Mr Policeman tells me to stop and as I never realised what they were doing my naivety told me they were probably doing some sort of survey or safety check..... Haha! I have never spoken to a police officer before never mind being pulled over by one, so that is what my mind expected! So anyway, I stop and he comes over to the window and shows me the reader on his speed gun (at this point all I could think was how much I wished I had been right about the survey....) it said 32mph. I was like ok I wasn't going fast that's fine and then he says its a 20mph limit so please could you pull over to the side of the road just beside the police van.

And no sadly this was not me on that fateful day, and sadly this is not my car! I was in Las Vegas here!

I just looked at my dad, I never really knew what to say! I parked behind a taxi, which was parked beside three police vans and one police car. Yes I did say three vans (what a waste of resources eh?!). They basically could pull over every single car that drove past as everyone was going over 20mph, but as there was not enough room for cars to be stopped, they were pulling over about 4 cars at a time. There must of been about 20 police officers walking about, most of them not really doing anything at all. It really was just my luck that I happened to be plucked out of the many cars going past!

A police man came over to my car and asked if I could go to the van. The van?!! I am not a criminal! Obviously I never said that, but wandered into the police van to see another pool soul being picked apart by an officer. Haha, I waited for ages just sitting waiting for the officer to get my details etc. Thinking that these things do not happen to me! Oh well it did!

I mean they were nice to me and everything, I just thought it was a bit unfair to be picking on people trying to drive people to the airport! Its not as if people even walk along the pavements on that road anyway! Its all just cars! So anyway now I have three points on my licence (sad face), all because I was going at 30mph! Its not as if I was going fast!! Grrr, I always thought I would be lucky and not get any points, but after four years I do!

Ok here is my actual car on the day I got him (March 2012) all nice and shiny!

You can't blame me for going fast anyway... Jenson made me do it! That is why he is named after the Formula One driver you see! Hehe! By the time you read this I will be making my way towards the Warner Brothers Studios for the Making of Harry Potter! Sooooo excited!!

Hope you girls have a great weekend!!

23 Things Before 23 Recap!

Hi Girls!!

Well its my Birthday tomorrow and I turn 23 (eeep!!), so it was about time I posted about how I got on with my 23 Things Before 23 challenge! I had to come up with 23 things that I wanted to do before I turned 23! Here is a reminder of what they were and how I got on!!

1. Finally graduate university! - I graduated university in November!

2. Go to California! - We had the time of our lives in California at the end of February and during March!

3. Speaking of going to gorgeous beaches in California, I would really really love one of these when we are there:

Tiffany! Uhuh. Robert knows all this already anyway! Honestly its about time he does it, I mean it will be four and a half years of being together. So yea the time has come! Robert you have been told love! Hehe! - Ok so before. we went on our holiday I knew this was not going to happen. It will definitely happen one day when Robert has the money to buy it and not going on a really expensive holidays!! Haha

4. Go to Disneyland Resort! - We were there for two days in March and it was totally amazing!!!

5. Drive around America (well California, Nevada and Arizona) in a Mustang!! - We got one!! His name was Roo and he was pretty awesome!!!

6. Visit the Grand Canyon! I'm so excited, especially as we are driving to it and not on a silly tour bus!! - Ok so Robert and I did even better than drive to it, we went on a helicopter and landed inside the Grand Canyon. It was completely unbelievable!!

7. Go to the Harry Potter Studios this year! - So sadly we never made it there, but we have tickets booked to go and see it in May!! So I will definitely be going soon! Yay!!

8. Go to the London 2012 Olympics! - That feels like so so long ago! Robert and I were lucky enough to go to 5 events down in London and it was just amazing to have been there!!

9. Keep blogging my heart out! I love my little blog and I never thought it would be what it has become! Thank you all very much for following and reading my posts! - This one has been easy!!! I love everything about blogging, so it would be impossible to stop!

10. Hopefully reach 200 followers by April!? - Nope, but you have 180 followers, which is amazing!! Thank you all so much for following my blog it means so much!

11. Have a house/flat with Robert! Honestly we need one really badly! I cannot wait until one pops up and it can be ours! - This one is also a no, but we now know we can get a mortgage! Woohoo, so it is just a matter of time until we find one we love!

12. Have watched all the Desperate Housewives episodes again! I am currently watching season 2! I can't believe how much I have forgotten about what happened! - Yea this was an easy one! I watched them all again within two months or something!! It is a great show!

13. Keep up with my spending ban!! I'm gonna do it guys!! - I did it!! I finished it in January and was very proud of myself for completing a 6 month spending ban!!

14. Get a career.... - Ok so I do have a career, but really its more like a job at the moment!

15. Ok know what you want to do as a career?! Help anyone! I hate being one of these people who have just no clue at all what they want to do! - And I'm still not sure of this either!! Oops!

16. Use my Lilly Pulitzer planner until its blue in the face! Ok maybe that's not the right phrase... As it is kind of already a bit blue, but what I mean is make sure you use it! But I know I definitely will because its fabulous!! Come see the post I wrote on it here!! - Ok so I ended up not using this by October, the format just didn't work for me, but I have found one that is!! My Erin Condren Life Planner is amazing!!

17. No longer work 7 days a week, because doing that is hard and tiring and I never get time for myself! That is why I want to do number 14/15! - Ok so this one has not been done either. I love both my jobs and seem to ot mind working 7 days a week! I have been doing it for nearly 3 years! Why stop now?!

18. Get back into horse riding! I absolutely adore it and haven't been in ages! I miss it so much! I have been riding my whole life, so when I don't ride for a long time I miss being around them! - Sadly I have not done this one. I really would love to start back again!

19. Spend a whole day with my lovely Robert in bed watching all 8 of the Harry Potter films! Pretty please Robert this would be so fun! Haha. - Oh darn, we never did this, probably because I never get a day when I'm not doing anything and Robert works all the time too! Hmmm, I will need to find a way to do this! Maybe before we got to the Harry Potter Studios!!

20. How about get a Mac book pro for Christmas? - Ok so I never asked for one for Christmas, mostly because my dad got a new laptop and it seems to have been adopted by me! Hehe!

21. I need a new phone! Like the one I have is absolutely rubbish! I think I will just have to get an iphone and I will get a really super pretty cover for it like this! - Yay I got an iPhone 5 in January, but I am still trying to get this blooming cover! At the moment I think it is only made for 4 and 4s, so I am patiently waiting for my pink kitty cover! I do have a case on it just now, bt I want a kitty one! Haha!

How cute!!!!

22. Be happy and feel good about myself! Try and wear make up more often, as it makes me feel nicer! - Well I feel as if I have done this one! My skin feels better than what it used to be (touch wood!) and I wear make up more often as my skin is good! So that makes me happy! Yay!

23. Make Robert and I's relationship the best it can be! - Done! Robert and I are i such a good place right now! Happy chappies! Hehe!

So we should add up how I have done! I got 13 out of 23!! So it could have been better! Although I am really pleased as I did some things that were just completely amazing once in a life time type things! Also I didn't get a full year at it, I will be doing another one of these for next year, and I will get a full year to complete it! Some of the things I never did in this one, might be in my next one, but only ones that are really important! How did you girls think I did?

Las Vegas Day 4: Hoover Dam!

Our last day!

Our flight to Heathrow was not until 9.40pm that night, so we had the whole day to tick a couple more things off our check list!!

We first of all drove down to the Famous Las Vegas sign!!

I also got Robert to take a few photos of the Mustang because of course this was the last day we had with it!!

Aww, we miss that car!

From the sign, we then continued South and drove to the Hoover Dam!! Las Vegas is about 40 miles from the dam and it was such a lovely day for a drive! When we got to the Dam it was weird as we had seen it from the air, when we were on our way to the Grand Canyon, just two days before! It had been pretty impressive from the air, so it was amazing to actually see it properly!

It is a huge structure and the bridge you see above has just recently been built! It is quite cool though, because supposedly the border of Nevada and Arizona go right through the middle of the Dam. So on each side of the bridge there are two clocks showing the time of each state!!

Which apparently by the clocks is only 10 minutes... I think there is an hour difference though!

We never went into the museum sadly, but ended our trip with lunch at the little cafe!We then headed back to Vegas to have a wonder around for our last few hours of being in America!! So we went for our last Pinkberry!! Oh how I miss that scrummy yoghurt! I always got the original flavour with strawberries, coconut, cookies and cream and graham crackers! So so yummy!!! Robert always got the chocolate hazelnut flavour with all the chocolate toppings!! Haha!

We then had a last wander through some of the hotels and then sadly went back to the car and headed to the car rental at the airport! I said goodbye to the horses on the motorway....

Bye bye horses!

Then we said goodbye to Roo! We would so have taken him home with us if we could! It was so cool driving a proper American car while we were in the USA!!

Bye bye Roo!!

We then got the shuttle bus to the airport and made our way through security! We then had our dinner at Burger King (I really wish they had more choices a airports!) and relaxed and talked about the amazing time we had had! By this point of being away for 15 days we were ready to go home, but we knew we were going to miss our time there! We ended up having just over $30 left in our pockets, so Robert was kind enough to say to me to go get something from duty free! It had a lovely MAC counter and I could have bought two things with it, but just got one, so we went home with $15! That is for our next trip!!!

We luckily had a row next to a window to ourselves and this flight was so so much better than the one we got to San Francisco. We spent our time watching loads of films (Wreck it Ralph is so good) and also I got some sleep! When we landed in Heathrow, we ended up having to go back through security, which was ridiculous because had just off a plane and had been on air-side for over 17 hours (including flight time). So thankfully our flight to Glasgow had been delayed, otherwise we would have missed it due to the queues in security!! It wasn't delayed for long and we were soon flying home!

I really hope your girls have enjoyed reading about our amazing adventure!! We had the best two weeks of our life!! I have loved writing these posts and it means I will remember them forever! Watch out for my haul posts soon... I bought quite a lot!! Hehe!

LA Day 1: Santa Monica and the LA Lakers!

Hi girls!

So as I said in my last post, we had an early morning flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles. It was at 8am, so a very early B.A.R.T ride was required to get back to the airport. I was so excited to get to LA, because of course this is where we would be driving the rest of the trip! It was just an hour flight to LAX and it was fab when we were getting nearer to land, as we could see the whole city under us and we actually saw the Hollywood sign from the plane! I think we were the most excited people on the plane at that point!!

When we landed the first thing we had to do was go and get the car. Robert and I love Mustangs (me especially), so we were hoping to get a convertible one! We hired through Thrifty and after sorting everything out and getting a GPS (sat nav), we were sent to a specific section of the car park and were told we could choose which ever one we wanted! Hehe, when we walked around the corner there was three convertible Mustangs sitting there!! Honestly, we must of looked like little children trying to decide which one we wanted!! We ended up choosing a black one;

I called him Roo! Also this photo was taken further into the trip.

So on leaving the car rental, we decided we would go to Santa Monica! So I put it into the sat nav and Robert began to follow the route. Now Robert has not driven a left hand drive car before and only driven on the "wrong" side of the road a tiny bit (because of course the UK drive the opposite way round from most other places). So after getting onto the correct side of the road, we were off and Robert was told just to follow the car in front when turning corners! Hehe, only 5 minutes into the drive, of course the sat nav takes us onto an Interstate (or motorway as we call them in the UK). Now Robert and I drive everywhere and everyday, we are not nervous drivers in any way, but that first day the driving was a little cray cray!! When we first got on the Interstate, Robert gave a little yelp of "your making me go on this already?!", to which I replied that I didn't have a clue what route the sat nav was going and he could not turn back now! Hehe, Robert did extremely well though and got us parked up near the beach all ready to explore a bit of Santa Monica!

Two words; utterly gorgeous! Honestly this place was beautiful! All the little beach houses, which must cost an absolute fortune. Then the beach itself was just amazing with golden sand, hundreds of palm trees and proper lifeguard huts, which went on for miles and miles in each direction.

Then we saw the Pier a little way away from us, so obviously we headed in that direction! For lunch, we stopped at a little beach restaurant and I had a grilled cheese and chips, which was just so good!!!

It was such a gorgeous day! Not a cloud in the sky, so it was perfect walking along the beach and then up onto the Pier, which is actually the unofficial (I think) end of Route 66! I just had to get a photo!!

Oh gosh that place was just so pretty!! Sadly we never went into Pacific Park, due to not having enough time left where we had parked. We had an amazing time and even walked past the famous Muscle Beach!! They were actually filming some sort of work out programme when we were there and later in the week we saw it on the tv!! It was so funny, knowing we had been there! So after getting some Dippin' Dots, which is quite a strange concept of ice cream in tiny litlle ball form. I got strawberry flavour and looked and tasted like I was eating the sweets called Millions! We walked back to the car and headed for the hotel.

Now the hotel, which we were staying in for 5 nights, happened to be in Anaheim (because we were going to Disneyland), but as LA is such a huge city, Anaheim is about 45 miles from the centre of LA and then is obviously more miles away from Santa Monica. So it took us just under 2 hours to get to the Hilton in Anaheim, due to all the traffic. During that journey, we experienced quite a scary moment due to a stupid impatient guy behind us when trying to join onto the Interstate, but this I guess just made Robert more focused. The average motorway here is usually 6 lanes across, well we were on one which was 14 lanes across!! It was crazy! We weren't that bothered by the amount of traffic on the way to Anaheim to be honest, but it was great to get to our hotel room and have a little rest for a while!

Robert had always wanted to go to a basketball game, so he booked us tickets to go and see the LA Lakers at the Staples Centre, which is right in the centre of LA!! So it was back on the Interstate for us! Now this is when we saw huge amounts of traffic and the Interstate was jam packed and moving very slowly!! It took us 2 and a half hours to get parked up beside the Staples Centre. As we were on holiday, the traffic never really bothered us, but I don't know how people can live there!! They must spend half their lives on the roads!! So anyway we were quite excited to get in and see the game!

We had a good view of the whole court and the game was great! The LA Lakers were playing the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Lakers won! I did try to do some star spotting along the front row with my camera, but never really saw anyone! After the game it was back down the Interstate again to the hotel! To be honest Robert and I weren't really bothered by this drive, as we are used to doing longer journeys in the car and plus the hotel was fab, so we were happy!! When we got back to Anaheim, it was 11pm and we had a very early morning, so it was straight to bed! Our second day of LA was a very exciting VIP Experience at Universal Studios!! So stay tuned for that post!!

I am linking up with Helene with her Travel Tuesday segment! Love this idea!!

Hope you enjoyed reading about our first day in LA!!
