Snap 18: Nails Of The Day

Hi girls!

For the 30 day snap today I have a NOTD! My first proper go at nail art, yup I am wayyy behind on that trend!! I love the colors of the nail polishes I have used! The pink is an OPI polish called Suzi's Hungary Again!, the speckled effect is called Butterfly from Accessorize and the lilac is another OPI called You're Such a Budapest.

It was quite fun to do actually! I will definitely be trying out more designs and using different colours! The two OPI polishes came from a set called Euro Centrale collection, in case you girls are wondering! So this was the most interesting thing I did today! What did you girls do today? Are you taking part in Sprinkle of Glitter's challenge?

Recent Make Up Buys!

Hi girls!!

Just a little haul of some make up bits that I have bought recently!

I went to Boots a while ago only to realise that there was a 3 for 2 deal on Revlon products. I had went in looking to see the new Lip Butter colours and when I loved the look of two of them obviously I was going to pick something else up!!So onto the Lip Butters; I picked up Pink Lemonade and Juicy Papaya. I absolutely love these two colours and they are both quite milky looking on the lips, which is so pretty! They are the exact same consistency and feel as all the other lip butters and I love them!! Great fresh colours, which are perfect for spring and summer! Revlon Lip butters are £7.99 each!

So now onto my freebie!! I was swithering as to what to get, but one of Revlons lip glosses caught my eye. Its called Crystal Water, which is apparently a new shade as well. This is a clear gloss packed full of sparkle, blue, pink, purple and silver. It is all so iridescent and the glitter is so tiny, that it just feels completely smooth on the lips. I love the Revlon lip glosses and this one will be perfect to layer over lipsticks, to add more sparkle and loads of shine! These lip glosses are £7.99. Also can I just say that these photos do not do the sparkle justice at all!!

My latest make up buy is from Accessorize. I love their lip glosses and I have a few nail polishes from them too. So I picked up a nail polish called Butterfly, which is this amazing milky colour filled with blue and pink glitter. It is a bit of a dupe for Nails Inc Sprinkles collection or even Illamasqua's Speckled collection (but the glitter is coloured), but a steal at only £4! I will do a little nail of the day post with this polish soon!

I then also picked up this brand new eye shadow palette for £9, which has 32 shades! Its called the Exposed palette and I would say its a cross between Urban Decays Naked palettes and Sleek's Storm palette. The colours are all along the neutral line and I cannot wait to try them! I will definitely be creating some looks with this and showing you girls!!

It's shades range from the lightest brown to pure black and has lots of mattes all the way up to pure shimmer! Let me know what you think of this girls!

Nails Of The Holiday!

Usually you will see Nails of the Day posts (NOTD), but in this post it is nails of the holiday, because my nails will last me the whole two weeks!!

I wrote a post about Calgel and told you all how much I love it! Well for special occasions like a holiday I treat myself and get a Calgel manicure! I love it, because it can last up to three weeks and it also helps me stop scratching at my eczema funnily enough! So I got it done and here is the amazing result!

Crazy Hand!! Haha

Flash on

I choose a really corally light pink colour (number 37 for all you Calgel lovers) and then a glitter called Candy Pink was applied over the top. The glitter is amazing through it, as it has loads of blue and purple sparkles and it just looks fab! The photos do not do the glitter justice at all!!! With flash on it looks a lot redder than it is, but that is because the glitter has darker pink sparkles through it and this is what is showing up! I love just how bright and girly it has turned out! What do you think?! I love it!! Hehe, I would definitely recommend Calgel to any one! Especially if you are looking for a long lasting nail colour, which does not chip AT ALL and is so much kinder to your nails than acryllic!

Have any of you girls tried a Calgel manicure before? If so let me know what you thought and what colour your nails were!

I Heart Calgel!

Hi girls!

Haha I jokes.. This is not my nail polish collection, I actually only own 21 nail polishes! Thank Pinterest for the photo! Haha I will do a nail polish collection and you can see how short a post it would be!! Oh and I did say only 21 and I do have my reasons! Although I am slightly jealous of all you ladies with loads of different colours, glitters and nail effects! Nail polish just does not work for me!

When I wear nail polish, it can never go on nicely and then I always have to wait about an hour before I touch anything or else my nails will DEFINITELY get ruined! There's no maybe about it, my nails that I just painted will always touch something and then get smudged and that annoys me a lot! Also I would say that I probably get only one day of non chipped nails and that is because if I scratch (because of my eczema) the nail polish just gets rubbed away!! Then I also just like to pick the polish off too (bad Jen!). I do love having pretty colours on my nails though, which is why I love Calgel!

If you are not sure what Calgel is, well it is a gel that is painted onto your nails and then dried under a UV (?) light. It comes in so many different colours and stays on my nails for four weeks! Now can I just say, that after what I told you above, having a colour on my nails for four weeks is amazing!! No chips or smudging! I love having it on my nails! It also makes it harder for me to scratch, which was an unexpected bonus. As the calgel is quite thick on the nail it means that there is no sharp edge for me to scratch with and therefore when I wear then I have very little marks on my skin! Sadly the downside of this is that it costs me £26 to get it done (sad face!!). If I had a lot of money I would get this done all the time! Also do not pick them off after the four weeks, because it can break your nail and make them peel! Although if taken off properly at a salon, it will not harm your nails at all! Therefore it is much better than acrylics! Anyway back to the post!

I thought I would share with you my Calgel history and share my love for this product! I have had 5 different calgels done. Now obviously as they are expensive, this is a reasonable number I think for just knowing about it for over a year now. So here we go!

My first set of calgels were for my aunts wedding. I was a bridesmaid, which was amazing so I just had to get my nails done for it! I picked a colour that was very similar to my dress, a dark purpley aubergine colour. You can see my bouquet in the photo, which was just so pretty!

My next set were for nights out and I just felt like treating myself! I love the hot pink colour of my nails here!!

Then I got a set for when I went to America in January. The colour is quite hard to make out, but to me it looked like I had a boiled sweets on my nails, as they were kind of two tone, but almost see through too. Really hard to explain! Basically the colour was almost a corally pink with some peach thrown in there too. They were just super pretty on my nails!

Now it gets to the exciting sets!! I asked if I could get glitter on my nails, as the girl had them out on the table. So I went for a really unusual turquoise colour on my nails with tonnes of sparkly blue, pink and silver glitter on top! I was in love!!

My last calgel nails were again with glitter obviously!! I went for a really pretty barbie pink with pink and silver glitter on the tips and then had it fading upwards! I really loved this combination!!

Sadly I have not had calgels since April and I would love to get another set, but now I am on a spending ban and I will not give in to my desires!! Hehe, writing this post has really made me want to get them!! I cannot wait until I can get another set and I wonder what colour I would get on my nails then?! Ooo exciting times!

Have you ever tried gel nails? What has been your experience with them?

A Birthday and NOTD #2

Hi girls!! I have got a Nails Of The Day for you today! But first of all i just wanted to wish my amazing Robert a big....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Tehee!! He is going to be all grumpy that I told you guys that! He will probably be quite depressed today, because he doesn't like Birthdays any more, or so he says! I won't tell you his age because then he will be even sadder, but basically he is 5 years older than me (to find my age please look over to the right and down a little bit!) Hehe!! Bad Jen!! Don't worry Robert its just a wee bit of fun!!   Awww, he will be fine! Hehe

Any way to celebrate this happy (?! For me its happy!!)  occasion, I am going to post a couple of pictures of a little week away Robert and I took almost a year ago! We went to Palma in Majorca!  It feels like years and years ago we were there! It was just such a relaxing week of no worries, ice cream and sunshine!

Aww! Great memories!! Hope you enjoyed those wee photos Robert and of course readers! Hehe! So now onto my Nails Of The Day! I think the colour of my nails, match in nicely with the theme of Palma, which is bright and sunny! So here are my nails very bright and summery! Very unlike the weather that's going on in Glasgow at the moment!

I used two coats of Models Own Beach Party, from the Hed Kandi range! I absolutely love this colour! It makes me smile when I have it on my nails! Although my dad did wonder what on earth I had done to them! I replied you just don't know anything about fashion do you?! Hehe, he then just had a confused look on his face! I know this can sometimes get mixed reviews, as the colour is a hit or miss on your skin tone, but I love it! I got mine in Boots a while ago with a deal that was doing 2 polishes for £8, and I thought that was a great deal, as you get a large amount of polish in their bottles and for only £4 how can you complain?!

Everyone has to wish Robert a Happy Birthday now!! Hehe! He would probably like that very much!

NOTD #1

Hi girls!

So today I am doing my first Nails Of The Day! I used Nails Inc and Models Own nail polish. Here is the final result!

First off I used Nails Inc, Warwick Avenue, which is a warm baby pink colour. It's really pretty. I actually applied three coats to get this level of colour. I wanted it to be a full coverage. This would also be a great french manicure colour, if you used only one or even two coats. I would say Nails Inc nail polishes are my favourite, as I seem to own  more of them than any other brand. I only own a small amount of nail polish, as I don't paint my nails very often. I really do love this colour though!

Then I used Models Own Pink Fizz, which is a pink silver glitter. The pieces are all the same size and I would say are quite big. I think the top coat looks great with the Nails Inc colour underneath! This is with just one coat of the glitter and then a top coat on top. You could really build the glitter up to full coverage very easily, as a lot of glitter is picked up on the brush.

When I do paint my nails I always like a bit of "bling" I hardly ever just put one colour on my nails so this combination is great! I hope you girls like it and I guess my watch was a bit of inspiration with the pink face and sparkly gems around the edge! I will be doing more NOTD soon, I'm sure!
