My Olympics Day 1!

What an amazing three days I have just had!!! Robert is just desperate to go back already! Trying to get even more tickets! Hehe!! Our day on Thursday started very early, 4am to be precise!! By the time we left the house it was 5am and we were very excited for our drive all the way down to London!

Our first event was the Canoe Slalom, we weren't really sure what to expect. It started at 1.30pm, so we had plenty of time to get to the Lee Valley White Water Centre, which is in the North of London. We were super excited after our 6 hour drive down and surprisingly not tired at all after only 2 hours sleep! There was no parking at the event, so we had to park in a multi-storey car park a 20 minute walk away from the event. Here is me in the car park below, you can just see the venue to the left of my head a way in the horizon. See that long grey looking thing, well those are the stands and you can almost see the flags along the top of it! Haha we were super excited!

It was a lovely day and we had great weather throughout! So we had a brilliant day. It was a great walk along a canal to get to the venue and it was only when we got to the end of the walk when we realised what actually made the event work! There was a lot of security, which obviously we didn't mind and the game makers were amazing!! They were great at creating an amazing atmosphere!! When we got in we were completely shocked, I think. The place was amazing and huge!! I don't think we had a clue!!

The stand above was the one we could see from the car park with all the flags along the top!! Another point to make is the price of food and drinks inside the event venues... Very expensive. For a bottle of Diet Coke, £2.60! Yup and we bought loads of them throughout the three days! They are cheeky because you cannot take in any liquids to the events. Although there are free water Fountains to fill up bottles with along with a very long queue!! When we got to our seats, we were super impressed with the course! It was just astounding!! We were speaking to man that was sitting in front of us and he was the project manager when the centre was being built!! He was saying that everyone would be amazed as to what actually went into building the course! I wasn't surprised at all!! Hehe.

So we got amazing seats! We got to see the Semi Final and the Final of the Women's K1 and the Men's C2 events. These stand for Kayak single and Canoe doubles, basically. I got some great photos of them going round the course! It looked so so difficult!! I think you would need so much strength in your arms, as the water is going so fast and you have to go through all the gates the right way. Semi Finals:

Sadly the British entrant in the K1 didn't get through!

However both of the C2 entrants got through, with one leading the table! The stands were completely full and everyone was super excited, which lead to loads of Mexican waves travelling all round the stands loads of times! It was great fun!!! Ok so then onto the Finals!

Yup! I was there to see Britain's two teams win Gold and Silver!! What a moment!! The whole crowd was going mental!! Robert and I were just so shocked and in awe that we were there! Seriously I cannot describe how it felt that day! So proud!!

Hehe, ticket well worth it!!

Ahhh what a day!! Totally amazing! After this, we went back to the car and drove over to our hotel in Slough. It was in Slough, because the next day we had a rowing event on the Friday morning and so wanted to be really close by for that! We ended up getting a cheeky Dominos pizza for our dinner and ate it in our room! We were so tired!! A good sleep was definitely had and I think I fell asleep at around 10pm, which is the earliest I have been asleep for months and months!

My next day at the Olympics will be up tomorrow!! Hope you enjoy reading and looking at all the photos!

Love, Jen x
